State officials cited the hospital in August for lab deficiencies, including lack of supplies and staffing to conduct testing, expired supplies and other safety concerns. The hospital and Department of Health were working on correcting these deficiencies until last Friday, when state officials discovered proficiency sample results from the lab were submitted improperly.
The discovery forced the hospital to shut down its laboratory services. All patients were either transferred or redirected to other area hospitals. In the meantime, the hospital must craft a corrective action plan that addresses the deficiencies found by the health department.
