Gov. Beshear sent a letter to HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius notifying her of the decision. With the executive order, Kentucky will become the 13th state to commit to establishing an exchange since the Supreme Court’s healthcare ruling, according to the report.
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, HHS will run a federally administered health insurance exchange beginning January 2014 in states that do not meet the deadline for setting up an exchange.
