Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Florida May Change Name

Executives at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Fla., have told city commissioners they will seek a name change for the hospital, which is now affiliated with Adventist Health System, according to a Tamba Bay Times report.

Other Adventist hospitals in the state are branded with “Florida Hospital” in the title, and the change is needed to leverage the hospital’s brand in the current healthcare market, said the executives

Executives at the hospital proposed Florida Hospital North Pinellas as the facility’s new name, though the former hospital name would appear as a subtitle in certain hospital signage. The family of Helen Ellis is concerned with the change.

A name change is expected to require approval from city commissioners, since the hospital was build on city-owned land.
