The Hackensack, N.J.-based HackensackUMC is the closest trauma center to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, where the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will vie for championship this coming Sunday. HackensackUMC’s services will add a level of emergency care for Super Bowl players, staff and fans.
The system developed its ED vehicles, which were previously used during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Urban Areas Security Initiative. The units are staffed by HackensackUMC emergency physicians, nurses and operations personnel, according to the release.
The core of the ED is a 43-foot semitruck with expandable sides. The ED vehicles include seven critical care beds (each having monitor defibrillator capability), a portable digital X-ray unit, telemedicine capability and onboard medical gases, among other features.
