Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. More than 140 cardiologists and other heart specialists work at HackensackUMC’s Heart & Vascular Hospital. A “hospital within a hospital,” the facility includes offices and clinics, diagnostic laboratories and operating and procedure rooms. It provides primary prevention, acute care and cardiac rehabilitation, among other services. The medical center was ranked No. 42 nationally for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report for 2015-16, and has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. U.S. News & World Report also recognized the hospital as high-performing for heart failure and heart bypass surgery in its common care ratings this year.
