Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Opens Geriatric ER

Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center, part of Barnabas Health, has opened an eight-bed geriatric emergency department, according to a hospital news release.

The department will be the first geriatric-focused ER in Essex County, and will feature evidence-based protocols, specially trained staff and frequent rounding by case managers, social workers, pharmacists and rehabilitation specialists, according to the hospital.
