ASA, along with 72 other medical organizations, wrote to Congress asking them to reach a bi-partisan agreement to pass legislation nullifying the Medicare payments cuts.
When the Budget Control Act’s super committee failed to reduce the national deficit by $1.2 trillion over 10 years, the sequestration process began. Automatic, across-the-board cuts are scheduled to begin in January of 2013 and last for nine years. Cuts include 2 percent or $11.065 billion to Medicare spending.
