Under the affiliation, CHVI and THI will transition and coordinate patients with complex thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms, patients in need of ventricular assist devices and patients in need of heart and lung transplants. The affiliation also enables THI to promote educational programs at Lubbock, Texas-based Covenant Health System, parent system of CHVI, and patients to participate in THI clinical research trials.
Affiliation discussions between Lubbock, Texas-based Covenant Health System and THI began in 2010. The two-year agreement, which is expected to be automatically renewed biannually, went into effect on Aug. 31. The terms of the affiliation were announced Jan. 13.
