Three Health Entities Partner to Open Monroe Cancer Center in Michigan

Monroe, Mich.-based Mercy Memorial Hospital System; Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica; and Detroit-based Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute formed a joint venture and construction of the Monroe (Mich.) Cancer Center, according to a ProMedica news release.

A Detroit News report stated the joint venture involved the construction of a new 13,000-square-foot building, costing more than $5 million.

According to the release, the Karmanos Cancer Center will provide the medical and clinical staff for the radiation therapy center while the Toledo (Ohio) Clinic Medical Oncology will run chemotherapy. Individualized cancer therapy will also be delivered via clinical trials, the release said.
