CMS to cover implantable heart failure devices

CMS will now offer Medicare and Medicaid coverage of implantable pulmonary artery pressure sensors for the management of heart failure.

The agency released its proposed coverage decision on Oct. 30, requesting and reviewing public comment on the matter before publishing its final decision Jan. 13. 

The coverage is provided in context of a CMS-approved Coverage with Evidence Development study.
