The center allows researchers a secure and cost-effective means to virtually access and analyze CMS’ healthcare data. Researchers will also be able to manipulate data within the VRDC.

Up until now, CMS has filled researchers’ data requests by preparing and shipping encrypted data files, which could be costly. The VRDC reduces the cost of data access and also ensures greater security as it provides access through a private secure network.
