CMS said in the report that it believes that some or all of the provisions will be extended as part of legislation that affects Medicare. Currently, CMS is working with Congress to finalize the provisions.

Providers providing services under the provisions may choose to hold claims until it becomes clearer whether or not legislation with extend the provisions, according to the report. If enacted, claims may be submitted at that time. If not enacted, payment will not be made for services provided after Dec. 31, 2009.
