The organizations will discuss partnering to enhance outpatient cancer services in Litchfield County, Conn. The goal is to increase access to care and offer a wide variety of high-quality cancer services in a single facility, according to the release.
Under the letter of intent, Yale-New Haven and Charlotte Hungerford will work to improve Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care through programmatic and infrastructure enhancements. The jointly developed outpatient facility will offer medical oncology services, including infusion, radiation oncology and support services, laboratory medicine services and diagnostic imaging services.
The partnership will also offer access to a network of cancer experts, clinical trials and expanded counseling and testing for those at high risk for hereditary cancer, according to the release.
Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Yale-New Haven Hospital and Yale Cancer Center will explore the logistics of the collaboration, such as the need and feasibility of relocating services, in the coming months.
