President Sydney Bersante: Nurse Turned Leader at St. Joseph Medical Center

Sydney Bersante has served as president of St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., since November 2007. St. Joseph Medical Center is a part of the Tacoma, Wash.-based Franciscan Health System.

Along with her duties at St. Joseph Medical Center, she has regional executive oversight for the Franciscan Health System women’s care, cardiovascular, diagnostic imaging and pharmacy service lines.

Ms. Bersante joined the Franciscan organization in 1990 as a registered nurse. She has held executive positions at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Wash., and St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood, Wash., before taking her current post at St. Joseph.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle and a master’s degree from City University in Bellevue, Wash.
