The road to the approval of Centegra Health System’s plans for a hospital in Huntley has been a long one. In December 2011, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board rejected the health system’s proposal for a new Huntley hospital, claiming there was not enough proof of a need for more hospital beds in the area. In July 2012, the board reconsidered its decision, after an administrative law judge ordered a new hearing based on a clerical error in the filing of an impact study in the certificate of need application, and it approved the health system’s plans.
In August 2012, Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Elgin, Ill.-based Sherman Health System challenged the approval of the CON for the Huntley hospital. The board did not reconsider its approval.
The proposed hospital will include 128 private rooms, a level II emergency department, a 20-bed obstetrics unit and a medical office building.
The health system will now present its plans to the Huntley Village Board.
