BCBSVT had initially requested a 5.2 percent average annual rate increase for its plans, while MVP Health Plan sought a 17 percent increase. The board has reduced the proposed rates to an average of 4.7 percent and 12.7 percent, respectively.
The rate requests, filed by the insurers May 7, were subject to a 90-day analysis by the board to determine if the requests meet certain guidelines related to affordability and access to quality care, the publication said.
