Each practice will open in a county designated as a dental health professional shortage area by HHS. Overall, HHS recognized 50 percent of counties in South Dakota as shortage areas, compared to 81 percent of counties in Georgia.

A study by the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management in 2013 found the opening of a new Aspen Dental-branded office had a significant economic impact at the local level, generating $1.3 million of financial growth through job creation and capital investment.

Diana Latinow, DDS, will lead the practice in Rapid City, S.D. and Monica Dawson, DDS, will lead the practice in Savannah, Ga. Both offices are slated to open on Dec. 3.
