CMS released proposed standards for navigators, who will be paid with federal funding, but the AHA wants further clarifications for volunteer navigators, some of whom may be deployed by hospitals in hopes of reducing the uninsured portion of their patient bases.
The hospital lobbying group also recommended consolidated consumer assistance programs and standards and issue translations of consumer and beneficiary information in the 15 to 20 most common languages “to avoid duplicative costs at the local level,” according to the letter.
