Form CMS-2552-10 Worksheet S-10 will be the new tool used to determine several different payments to hospitals, including meaningful use payments and disproportionate share hospital payments.
The AHA listed several recommendations and asked for a few clarifications, including the following:
• The definition of uncompensated care should be broad.
• The formula that calculates cost-to-charge ratios should be modified to include graduate medical education costs.
• Lines 17 and 18 on the worksheet, which cover grants and investment income related to uncompensated care and other general operations, should either be clarified or deleted.
