The American Association for Respiratory Care is asking hospitals to complete a survey for the Department of Health and Human Services to obtain a count of mechanical ventilators available as the country prepares for the H1N1 flu virus this fall, according to a news release from the American Hospital Association.
The survey, started on Aug. 17, will be completed on Sept. 10. Information was sent to hospital executives on Sept. 1 and to respiratory care/critical care service managers last month, according to the release.
HHS is hoping for a 90 percent response rate from U.S. hospitals.
