Last week, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported the university would close the cancer facility Dec. 31, and Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada in Las Vegas would likely reopen the institute in early February. However, Dr. McAfee said the cancer institute will stay open under the leadership of CCCN.
UC San Diego and CCCN are working on a deal regarding the institute, according to the report.
