Hospital officials said fewer than five patients were filling the hospital’s emergency room each day and 50 percent of overnight stays are for deliveries. While the hospital may no longer be offering medical services, Franciscan Skemp Health Care will be focusing on maximizing outpatient services in the area, particularly through the construction of a new clinic. The healthcare system will also be working with a local ambulance service to improve pre-hospital care.
“The clinic will be here, and we’ll have urgent care services in the clinic, we’ll have radiology, those kinds of things, which are the vast majority of what’s going on,” said John Nemec, vice president of regional services for Franciscan Skemp Health Care.
