Oklahoma City-based Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health will establish a new heart center after receiving a $20 million gift from the Presbyterian Health Foundation and a $200 million investment from the state legislature.
The Oklahoma Children’s OU Health Presbyterian Health Foundation Heart Center will centralize cardiac services that were previously spread across the hospital, according to a Sept. 19 news release from the health system.
The new facility will include 90 beds dedicated to inpatient cardiac care alongside 30 outpatient exam rooms, two operating rooms, multiple cardiac catheterization and hybrid labs, advanced imaging and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation capabilities, transplant facilities, and spaces dedicated to family support and education.
Construction on the building, which marks one of the largest healthcare infrastructure investments in Oklahoma’s history, will begin in early 2027, and is expected to open in early 2030, the release said.
Formal construction documents and schematic work will begin in 2026, with multiple phases of building starting in early 2027. The building is expected to open to patients in early 2030.
