The plan consists of 12 initiatives focusing on infrastructure and development, community health, translational research and clinical data. It was developed through discussions with hospitals in the district, including its four major medical centers: Rush University Medical Center, the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.
Some projects are already underway, including construction on a new mixed-use facility and the establishment of a fiber optics network to facilitate data exchange.
