Telehealth use fell nearly 7% from last September to last October 

National use of telehealth services fell by 6.8 percent from September to October 2021, the American Journal of Managed Care reported Jan. 10.

In September, telehealth usage stood at 4.4 percent of all medical claim lines, and dropped to 4.1 percent in October. By comparison, in August and September telehealth utilization rates increased by 2 percent. 

The data collected for FAIR Health’s monthly telehealth tracker represents the privately insured population, excluding Medicaid and Medicare fee-for-service. 

Mental health conditions remained the top ranking telehealth diagnosis nationally. COVID-19 dropped out of the top five diagnoses in the Midwest and was no longer in the top five telemedicine diagnoses nationwide.
