Adventist Health has completed a systemwide Epic go-live after three years of planning, marking what the health system described as one of the largest technology transformations in its history.
The Roseville, Calif.-based health system also deployed what it called the largest collection of AI-enabled tools it has introduced during a single Epic go-live.
Jennifer Stemmler, senior vice president and chief digital and information officer at Adventist Health, said in an Aug. 31 LinkedIn post that the implementation was completed on time and on budget and created a new digital foundation for the organization.
“This was more than an Epic implementation,” Ms. Stemmler said. “It was one of the most significant technology transformations in our organization’s history.”
Adventist Health worked with Epic, Apple and Microsoft on the initiative, according to the post. Ms. Stemmler said the project was designed to transform how the 28-hospital system delivers care and better connect clinicians, caregivers and operations across the organization.
She credited the health system’s operational readiness executives, clinicians, technology teams, support staff and other leaders with preparing the organization for the systemwide launch.
Ms. Stemmler said the go-live marks the beginning of the health system’s next phase of work rather than the end of the transformation.
“Today we celebrate an extraordinary milestone,” she said. “But this is not the finish line. The work started today.”
