Mercy Health, Lighthouse team up for behavioral telemedicine

Cincinnati-based Mercy Health tapped Lighthouse Telehealth, a Toledo, Ohio-based Harbor Behavioral Health subsidiary, to provide 24/7 coverage for behavioral health and substance use disorder patients at Mercy in a partnership that began Feb. 22.

Under the agreement, Lighthouse physicians and advanced practice nurses will provide psychiatric consultations to patients in the emergency departments at Mercy Health's three metro Toledo hospitals: Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health St. Charles Hospital and Mercy Health St. Anne Hospital.

Lighthouse will also provide inpatient care for Mercy's Behavioral Health Institute at its St. Charles' campus in Toledo, and physiatric care at Mercy's two freestanding EDs in Sylvania, Ohio and Perrysburg, Ohio, as well as telepsychiatry inpatient consults and on-call coverage as needed.

"Mercy Health is committed to serving the whole patients – mind, body and spirit," said Bob Baxter, president and CEO of Mercy Health in Toledo. "We look forward to expanding our partnership with Lighthouse Telehealth to ensure that all patients coming to us have access to the appropriate care that they need. This innovative technology based telehealth model will continue to allow effective and timely care for our patients as they seek help for themselves or a loved one."
