Fair Health: Use of telehealth services increased 53% in 2017

Private insurance claim lines for telehealth services increased 53 percent from 2016 to 2017, according to a Fair Health report.

Fair Health analyzed data from more than 28 billion privately billed healthcare claim records for its FH Healthcare Indicators and FH Medical Price Index reports. Results showed a growth in the following services for 2016-17:

53 percent: telehealth.
14 percent: urgent care centers.
7 percent: retail clinics.
6 percent: ambulatory surgery centers.

Emergency room usage decreased 2 percent during the time frame.
