Blue Mesa Health unveils Spanish language digital diabetes program on Solera Health network: 3 things to know

Digital therapeutics company Blue Mesa Health recently launched "Transformemos," its Spanish language diabetes prevention program, on the Solera Health network, the company confirmed Jan. 10.

Solera Health contracts with payers to help patients access diabetes prevention and management programs recognized by the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program. Solera Health manages patient enrollment for these DPP providers, using its own analytics model to identify "best fit" programs based on individual patient needs and preferences.

Here are three things to know about Transformemos.

1. Blue Mesa Health rolled out its English language digital diabetes prevention program, called "Transform," in 2015. The year-long program uses personalized digital learning modules, home health monitoring, remote health coaching and activity tracking to help participants lose 5 to 7 percent of their body weight.

2. The company launched Transformemos on a limited basis last year.

"The user experience is completely in Spanish — program enrollment, the digital app, health coaching, the social support group and the lesson curriculum," said Blue Mesa Health CEO Curtis Duggan. "We are excited to scale this with health plans within the Solera network, many of which have significant Spanish-speaking populations."

3. More than half of Hispanic adults are expected to develop Type 2 diabetes over their lifetime, according to the CDC.

Brenda Schmidt, CEO of Solera Health, said, "There is a significant need for a culturally-competent Spanish-language lifestyle change program that effectively meets the needs of diverse populations at-high risk for type 2 diabetes.
