American Well, Doctor on Demand, Teladoc used mostly by women

Executives from telemedicine providers American Well, Doctor on Demand, MD Live and Teladoc Health told CNBC that women and mothers make up the majority of their user bases.

Three things to know:

1. Teladoc Health CEO Jason Gorevic said mothers over 25 years old contribute to an estimated 45 percent of the company’s general medicine and behavioral health visits.

“Moms are the [CMOs] of the family,” Mr. Gorevic told CNBC. “Telemedicine allows them to get the care they need without taking hours out of their day.”

2. More than 60 percent of American Well’s users are female, with more than 50 percent between ages 25 and 44, said Roy Schoenberg, American Well CEO, according to the report.

3. In addition to 65 percent of its users being female, an estimated two-thirds of Doctor on Demand’s physician staff are female, according to CEO Hill Ferguson, CNBC reports.
