Minneapolis-based Allina Health deployed an update to their online diagnosis and treatment service, powered by technology from leading virtual care company Zipnosis.

The update, Allina Health Everyday Online, complements Allina Health's Everyday service line, which aims to increase patient access. Allina Health Everyday Online utilizes Zipnosis' technology, allowing patients to access virtual care via their smartphones, tablets or computers.

Via the new service update, patients complete an interview that gathers information on symptoms and health history. An Allina Health provider then reviews the information, makes a diagnosis and the sends a treatment plan to the patient. If appropriate, prescriptions are sent to a pharmacy for pick-up. Patients can receive care for common conditions, like cold and flu, for a flat fee or insurance copay.

"Since we already had a virtual care service in place, it was important this service launch offer opportunities for us to grow our online capabilities," said Dave Slowinske, senior vice president of Allina Health Group Operations.
