UnitedHealth Subsidiary Signs Purchasing Agreement With Medtronic, Abbott

Phoenix-based SharedClarity, a subsidiary of Minneapolis-based UnitedHealth Group, has signed agreements with Medtronic and Abbott Laboratories to buy the majority of its heart stents from the device companies at highly discounted prices for its 135 network hospitals, according to a Star Tribune report.

Mark West, president of SharedClarity, said the discounts would be in the double-digits, but did not offer an exact percentage, according to the report.

The three-year agreement is part of SharedClarity’s larger project of testing 30 popular devices in search of the best brands, according to the report.
