The St. Paul, Minn.-based devicemaker released an updated security advisory informing users of a future device update.

A third-party security research firm discovered St. Jude’s Merlin@home transmitter radio-frequency and “inductive” models are vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks, which allow hackers to remotely compromise the device and listen in on communication between the transmitter and any device connected to it, according to the report.

St. Jude will roll out an updated version of the transmitter software in the next few months.
