Sen. Grassley’s 3 goals for the generic drug market in 2017

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, hopes to achieve three major goals this year to help lower prescription drug prices.

He shared the following goals with Axios reporter Caitlin Owens, who will be releasing a full interview with Sen. Grassley later this month, according to today’s Axios Vitals newsletter.

1. Crack down on patented drug companies using pay-off agreements to keep cheaper generics off the market

2. Prevent brand-name drugmakers from withholding information necessary for generics to come to market

3. Allow the importation of drugs from abroad
