Rite Aid names former Walgreens executive as president, COO

Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid appointed Kermit Crawford, former executive vice president and president of pharmacy health and wellness for Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens, president and COO of Rite Aid, effective Oct. 5.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Crawford.

1. As president and COO, Mr. Crawford will report directly to Rite Aid Chairman and CEO John Standley.

2. Mr. Crawford held numerous leadership positions throughout his 30-year career with Walgreens. He retired from the pharmacy retailer in 2014.

3. Following his tenure with Walgreens, Mr. Crawford served as a retail and healthcare advisor and consultant at Sycamore Partners, a New York City-based private equity firm.

4. He also maintains positions on the board of directors for Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health and the board of councilors of Los Angeles-based University of Southern California School of Pharmacy.
