While the Red Cross has ample blood supply to cover emergency situations, the blood bank is still recovering from the severe winter storms in March.

The Friday Flyer estimates the cancelled blood drives caused the Red Cross to lose out on more than 9,500 blood and platelet donations.

To help mitigate shortages, the Red Cross is urging donors of all blood types across the country to donate.
