Quest Diagnostics COVID-19 testing volume rises amid delta variant spread

Quest Diagnostics CEO Steve Rusckowski told CNBC July 22 that the company is seeing an increase in COVID-19 tests as the delta virus spreads.

“We said our COVID-19 testing business would go down as we saw the recovery, if you will, from the pandemic, and it has gone down throughout the first half. In the last couple of weeks, and we think it’s related to the delta variant, we started to see a slight increase actually in that Covid testing volume as well,” Mr. Rusckowski said. 

He added that most positive tests sequenced by Quest in the last week were from the delta variant. 

Quest is also seeing an increase in tests for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases and neurology as more people return to in-person medical visits, CNBC reported.
