Cambridge, Mass.-based Philips plans to invest more than $150 million in U.S. manufacturing and research and development to expand production of AI-enabled health technology, the company announced Aug. 14.
The investment includes an expansion of the company’s Reedsville, Pa., facility, which produces ultrasound systems for hospitals. The site will add 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 40,000 square feet of warehouse space. Philips expects the expansion to create 120 skilled manufacturing jobs.
The initiative also includes the previously announced expansion of Philips’ image-guided therapy facility in Plymouth, Minn., which is expected to generate more than 150 jobs. Additional projects are planned over the next several years to support the company’s U.S. growth.
The new investments build on Philips’ existing footprint, which includes 40 facilities and nearly 17,000 employees across all 50 states. The company already invests $900 million annually in R&D in the U.S., supporting technologies used by clinicians and patients in 90% of hospitals nationwide.
