Dr. Riva will serve as the senior vice president and head of Gilead’s hematology and oncology therapeutic area, according to the report. He will also join the company’s executive committee.
In his 12 years at Basel, Switzerland-based Novartis, Dr. Riva led the development of more than 20 cancer compounds and oversaw the regulatory approvals of drugs for both solid and hematological malignancies.
