Hospitals in North Texas give blood transfusions to 600 to 800 patients daily, but not enough people are donating blood to meet those needs.
Platelets are also in short supply, which often are used for cancer patients going through chemotherapy and radiation.
Those interested in donating must weigh at least 110 pounds and be 16 years old, with parental consent.
