The layoffs will occur between February and June 2018 as Merck discontinues its global controllers unit at Merck Sharp & Dohme Corps.’s Charlotte Service Center — a subsidiary of the pharmaceutical giant.
Terry Lee, vice president of state affairs and policy at Merck told the Charlotte Business Journal that the layoffs will be permanent. Mr. Lee notes, however, that some employees may be able to transfer to a different site.
