Medline to open $77.5M distribution center in Kansas

Medline said Oct. 15 it plans to invest $77.5 million to build a new distribution center in Bonner Springs, Kan.

The supplier said it has outgrown its facility in Kansas City, Mo., and will bring 141 team members from that facility to the new distribution center in Bonner Springs. The new center will also create about 350 construction jobs and another 100 jobs once the facility opens.

"We are excited to welcome Medline to Kansas and look forward to their collaboration with healthcare systems across the state," Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said in a news release.

Medline said the new distribution center is part of a $500 million investment it made this year to increase supply chain efficiency and reliability.

"Medline is excited to expand our services to healthcare providers from our future home in Bonner Springs," Bill Abington, Medline's president of global operations, said in the news release. "Our state-of-the-art, medical-grade distribution center will allow us to deliver critical healthcare supplies to the entire continuum of healthcare, quicker, more efficiently, and to a broader territory, while creating quality new jobs and opportunity in Wyandotte County."
