Medline has leased more than 1.6 million square feet of distribution center space in Northern California after a June 11 fire destroyed its 1 million-square-foot facility in Tracy, Calif.
The medical supply company secured a 925,000-square-foot warehouse in Tracy for immediate occupancy and a 709,000-square-foot facility in Stockton, Calif., scheduled to open in January 2027, according to a July 6 news release. The new facilities replace the distribution center destroyed by the June 11 fire, which prompted evacuations of neighboring warehouses and a local state of emergency. Together, they represent a 45% expansion of Medline’s customer-facing Northern California distribution footprint compared with one month ago.
The Tracy facility, less than 10 miles from Medline’s previous site, is expected to begin accepting deliveries from Medline’s distribution network and serving customers in the coming months. The company said the facility is expected to eventually house AI-powered technologies used at other distribution centers.
Across California, Medline said its distribution footprint is expected to reach nearly 5 million square feet by mid-2027, including a new 1 million-square-foot distribution center under construction in Perris.
