Mr. Mills and his brother, Jon Mills, founded the company known as Medline in 1966. They passed the company to a younger generation of family members in 1997.
Under the Mills brothers’ leadership, the medical supply company grew to generate more than $600 million in sales. Today, the company has more than $13 billion in sales and 23,000 employees worldwide.
Before founding Medline, James Mills served in the U.S. Army as a clerk and typist and worked as a sales representative at National Cash Register, General Mills and Mills Hospital Supply.
