The company stopped selling the device following a warning by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration saying morcellators present a serious risk of spreading cancerous tissue.

In March, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston changed their protocols on morcellation procedures after two cases resulted in the spreading of cancerous tissue into the abdomen.
