J.B. Hunt, University of Arkansas partner on new supply chain initiative

Lowell, Ark.-based J.B. Hunt Transportation Services will collaborate with the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville to create the J.B. Hunt Innovation Center of Excellence.

J.B. Hunt Transportation will invest $2.75 million to fund the center, which represents a joint effort between U of A's College of Engineering and the Sam M. Walton College of Business.

Engineering, computer sciences and business research students will work with J.B. Hunt Transportation employees in the center to develop solutions to real-world issues using technology-driven supply chain solutions, according to a news release.

"Interdisciplinary research projects are a major focus of ours, and this particular collaboration between industry, faculty and students is a great example of the type of research we continue to pursue," U of A Provost Jim Coleman said in a statement.
