Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System has selected Premier for group purchasing and supply chain services.
The agreement gives HSHS access to Premier’s group purchasing program, integrated data and analytics, supply chain solutions, advisory services, collaboratives and other resources, according to an Aug. 27 news release.
The partnership will also focus on clinical and operational improvements and financial resilience, including efforts to reduce variation and align initiatives with measurable value.
The move builds on supply chain work HSHS has been pursuing for several years under Nalin Kulasekara, system vice president of ancillary operations and supply chain management. He has led efforts to standardize inventory organization and automate ordering across the system’s hospitals. Mr. Kulasekara also told Becker’s the health system is expanding its focus on physician service agreements and conducting forensic reviews of outsourced clinical contracts as it seeks nonlabor savings.
