Peter Cutler, vice president of communications and external affairs at the hospital, told WGRZ that the hospital expects to be able to restock quickly, adding: “Had this happened a year ago, it would be a much different story.”
As soon as ECMC officials learned of the fire, the hospital’s purchasing team began contacting vendors across the country and ordering PPE, Mr. Cutler told WGRZ.
In September, New York state mandated all hospitals have a 90-day supply of PPE on hand. ECMC told the TV station that the state won’t enforce the supply rule because the supply was destroyed in a fire.
