The FDA has inspected the facility to ensure it meets FDA standards and is asking healthcare professionals to directly contact Fresenius Kabi to obtain the saline.
“While FDA cannot require a manufacturer to produce a product, the agency will continue to use all the tools at its disposal to mitigate this and other drug shortages,” the news release said.
