FDA approves Qiagen’s TB blood test: 3 things to know

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday approved Qiagen’s fourth generation tuberculosis blood test.

Here are three things to know.

  1. The Quantiferon-TB Gold Plus test is designed to detect latent tuberculosis in patients.
  1. The blood test offers a broad look into an individual’s immune response to tuberculosis, according to a news release.
  1. Qiagen plans to launch the new test later this year.
